First class series of books
This 4-part set is a genuine treasure chest of folk music. The A5 size makes them ideal for keeping in guitar gigbags and with around 50 songs per book, each of the 4 books is extremely good value. In many ways, they are very similar in style and layout to the collections of music originally printed in the classic American 'Sing Out' series.

Music is clearly printed in the form of single-note melody line as notation, with guitar chord names but no chord diagrams and no guitar tab. Of particular note is that at the back of each book, there are brief notes about every song, usually identifying their origins, history or simply providing a few pertinent comments. Although associated with Irish folk music, a huge number of songs also became an integral part of English folk music or that which evolved in America (especially after importation and further adaptation in the Apalachians).

In short - these books represent a very worthwhile and affordable collection of well known and less well known folksongs. I strongly recommend buying the whole set. If you enjoy playing or singing folk music, you won't regret it.
