Great TV
Bought this for the bedroom. Good clear picture with no blurring at all when watching sport which was very important to me. Setup easy just turn it on and follow the on screen instructions you can't go wrong. Auto tunes all the channels. sound quality is excellent for a tv this size. used in bedroom and loud enough to watch tv even at 1/4 of the volume. researched many tv's and this was the best all round value in this size and price bracket. if you dont want it in standby then turn it off. there is a button on the top next to the manual controls that turns it off so no wasted power!!!
Great quality modestly sized TV
This was our first flat screen TV, replacing a 28" CRT. Although you can get the 32inch V4000 for only slightly more we went for this model as we don't need any extra screen size - we just wanted something easier to carry that doesn't use any floor space. It will be wall mounted in our small living room (allow 4 or 5cm clearance when you buy a bracket unless your cables will run through the wall...).
It is currently used for upscaled DVDs via hdmi, built-in freeview and as a 2nd monitor for the PC on a VGA cable. The picture quality is excellent in all of these uses and free from digital artefacts which are distracting on larger screens.
Top value 26in LCD
I spent a lot of time researching various 26in TVs, and the choice seemed to be between various Sony models, a couple of Panasonic models and a Samsung one. I am extremely pleased to have chosen this model.
- It looks excellent. Although I am quite keen on my AV equipment, I do recognise a TV should look nice in the room you are putting it in. The piano black surround looks classy without being brash, and the silver speaker grille almost looks metal (although it isn't)
- The picture is superb. For SD broadcasts, it looks a lot better than my (much more expensive) Sharp 42in LCD. I mostly use it for connection to an Xbox360 - the responsiveness of the screen seems good and the colours are vibrant
- The remote is comfortable to use and quite intuitive. Some Sony stuff has been shipped with very complicated remotes lately (especially the DVD recorders), nice to see they are correcting this
Of course there are a couple of downsides (sound is average, the in built SD receiver isn't too good at picking up channels on weak signals) but in all I couldn't be happier with it. Not sure why you would pay £100 more for a Panasonic (or £40 less for a Samsung).
