But with a HDD DVD recorder, you'll be totally ready to watch and record TV in the new digital world.
With the touch of a button, you can turn the entire system on, change your sound settings or shut it down. Which means you're left to concentrate on what you want to watch next.

Sony RDR-HXD1095 500 Gb review
I bought this HD recorder about a month ago and think its an amazing piece of kit. I have over 100 programmes on the machine at the minute with about 130 Gb worth of space left on it in SP mode and certainly haven't had any problems with it freezing or telling me to delete anything like the other review. I think that they've got a faulty hard drive as I couldn't find any other review with the same problem and I always do a bit of research on anything electrical before buying.
The features on the machine are great and basically does everything apart from make a cup of tea. Its very quick for editing programmes (I like to cut out adverts after recording anything and it chapter marks them for you). Some channels are better than others though, but that's nothing to do with the machine - its the way its broadcast and you can perform all these tasks even while its recording. Fantastic. I'm also very impressed with the picture quality although I don't record anything lower than in SP, but because of the size of the hard drive, I don't need to worry about running out of space.
Also very impressed with Amazon's delivery service. I ordered it first thing Monday morning on standard delivery and it was with me by the Thursday. I would definitely recommend this machine to anyone considering buying it.
Pile of Junk - AVOID
I purchased this recorder a month ago. I only chose it because of its ability to remove commercials from recordings.
At first everything worked fine. But, I have now discovered that once you get to around 40 titles recorded onto the hard disk, the recorder becomes almost useless. It freezes, crashes all the time. Extremely slow to respond. You cannot do anything with it until you delete LOADS of programs from the HDD. This is stupid. The remaining space was over 100 hours, and still I had to start deleting.
This recorder has a design fault. This problem has surfaced for other owners of this recorder, so I know it is not just mine.
I am VERY disappointed at Sony. I wish I had bought the Panasonic.
