Not really for Dummies2
I came to this book as a Pagemaker user of some 10 years, forced to upgrade to Indesign as we upgraded all our other software and none of it works with Pagemaker any more. Contrary to its title, I found this book assumes a pretty high level of knowledge of graphic design software and that it wasn't for beginners at all. Like many books of its kind, it teaches you how to do specific things but not how to troubleshoot and find out why something isn't working as it should. I had several fairly basic problems and had to resort to searching for them on Google as they weren't covered in this book. I wouldn't recommend it for beginners or those who need just the basic features that enable you to publish books with this software - which is what I do.

Does what it says on the cover!!4
This is a great introduction to In design. In my experience none of the 'for dummies' series are targeted at Dummies. There is an assumption of a certain basic knowledge and common sense so it is not too irritating for myself who is intermediate. The tips and tricks inserts in the marging are very useful. A great starting point, or also usful to confirm what you know and build on it.
