The book is also referred to by advocates and solicitors involved in media law - an area which has undoubtedly assumed greater importance in recent years. The great virtue of this book is that it provides for journalists thorough sound instruction in the legal system of Scotland and the best possible advice on how to set about their task with knowledge. Lord President Emslie.
Customer Reviews
Invaluable source for anyone in Scottish media
This is a masterly and invaluable source for anyone involved in journalism or other media roles in Scotland.
The style is erudite, elegant and accessible. I'm not a lawyer or journalist, but sometimes have to teach copyright, defamation, and court reporting law to communication students, and this is a vital reference source. It is by no means a dry and musty tome; it's enjoyably written.
It would really benefit from a new edition taking into account the explosion of the internet since this edition. There needs to be a very much expanded section examining internet aspects that are currently of concern in the light of Scots law.
