The Observer, 4 January, 2004
a perfect book for discovering the real Mallorca.... this is a walking, talking, scrumptious, hip-book of the gastronomic world

Synopsis
A culinary guide to Mallorca, covering traditions, recipes, ingredients, shops, restaurants and wine, illustrated with full colour photographs throughout. It is the only book on the market in English introducing Mallorquin food; the chapter on wine contains a lot of new information about wines and vineyards not mentioned in Spanish wine books currently available. This book will be of interest to the two million British holidaymakers who visit Mallorca every year, and everyone who in interested in foreign cuisines.

A portable and scrumptious book5
This is one of the most useful, beautiful, portable and scrumptious books that I've come across about Malloca and its food and wine. I've needed a book like this so many times but never been able to find one. Local produce, local food markets, locally-owned restaurants serving all that fantastic stuff from the markets - you know, those places which are always full of locals - now I know where to find them. The recipes are great for recreating the best local dishes when I get home, and I now know what to do with Sobrasada. I never knew Mallorquin wines were so fantastic either. I bought 5 copies of the book as presents - they're like the Hip Hotel books of the gastronomy world!

Excellent introduction to Mallorcan food today5
As a regular visitor to Mallorca this book is something I have been looking for for a long time. As well as giving recommendations on restaurants etc. it describes and gives recipes for local dishes such as tumbet, coca, sopas mallorquinas etc. This is combined with wonderful descriptions of the ingedients used and even includes 2 'foodie' tours around Palma so that you can both take advantage of the local markets and cook authentically whilst on holiday and also recreate your favourite dishes when you return home. With a chapter on the Mallorcan Bodegas (wine) it results in being the perfect introduction to Mallorcan cusine today.

The Taste of a Place Mallorca5
Excellent book! I found it very informative and full of good recipes. Was so impressed I bought it for a friend who lives in Mallorca and they are delighted with it. Having taken holidays there for the past 20 years it helped to bring the place we love back home as well as increase our knowledge of the island. Well worth the purchase.
