Product Description

West investigates the new worlds of visual thinking, insight, and creativity made possible by computer graphics and information visualisation technologies. He argues that, with the rapid spread of inexpensive and powerful computers, we are now at the beginning of a major transition, moving from an old world based mainly on words and numbers to a new world where high level work in all fields will eventually involve insights based on the display and manipulation of complex information using moving computer images.

Customer Reviews

Lacking in Visual Thinking2
Not one picture here, making it something of a no-brainer.

Not the first to deliver "an Einstein book" at the recommendation of the publisher - the Ad Vinci syndrome.

This book is a collection of essays about the coming of age of computer graphics 1995 on and is really about generating exciting visuals in many different markets - some of which are for thinking about. The author was well-positioned to write these essays, which originally appeared in key journals.

But the score is Marketing 2 Visual Thinking 0 - if you want a book on visual thinking; and West should have stuck to what the book is and provided pictures, rather than spin it off into more populist waters.
