Eclectic Mix of Songs
From reading a few articles it seems this album was born whilst Chuck Prophet was having problems with writers block. Well the results show a few major changes of direction within the track listing but no noticeable lack of quality when compared to earlier albums. As well as the more conventional blues/alt-country fusion in 'Automatic Blues' and 'West Memphis Moon' there are hints of hip-hop influences in 'You Did'and 'Monkey in the Middle'. Other tracks have many of the trade mark Prophet folk and rock references that mark him as one of the most competent of modern song writers and performers.
This is not the album that is likely to project Chuck into the big time but it's an enjoyable and well crafted record that's well worth hearing.
