Get Over Here!4
This sounded like a disaster in the making; but MK Vs DC Universe is actually rather good.
Single player options include Arcade mode, essentially classic MK. The structure has barely changed since Mortal Kombat 3, but the option to fight against MK, DC, or mixed characters adds some longevity and variety.

Story mode is the newest addition, and theres a plot for both the MK & DC universes. This involves a series of fights based around how and why these worlds are colliding. The plot is pure hokum, involving combat rage and dark energy, but the writing is of a high standard for videogames, and makes some effort to explain whats going on. Both plots are interlinked, which is a nice touch.
Kombo Challenge and Practice mode are for honing those fatalities. Its murderously difficult to complete the Kombo Challenges, which should keep kompletionists busy.

20 characters are available, 10 from each stable, and theres a large selection of environments to brawl in. Fighters get bloodied and clothes ripped; it must have taken some persuading to give Superman a bloddy nose, but it works. Its also impressive how the character models are similar in style and ability, and not the strange mish mash it could have been. Controls are fairly sluggish though, and was left wishing they were a fraction more responsive.

I kan't stop playing this!4
What more could you want from a beat em up game than the best characters from the Mortal Kombat series battling it out with the best heroes and villains from the DC Universe!? This new 3D fighter is similar in style to the other Mortal Kombat games from recent years but it now has a much more involving story mode and the great addition of online battles.

The gameplay is very good and is very easy to get used to the controls straight away. All the character's moves are listed in the Pause Menu, so if you're new to the game you still have a chance at trying to beat more experienced players. The graphics are excellent with very advanced character models and some very impressive backgrounds from both the MK and DC world, all of which can be used to push opponents through walls and drop off the edges. The music is great and very MK in a dark, moody fighting style.

My only complaint about this game is the lack of gameplay modes as, although the story and multiplayer/online modes are great, there's no Puzzle Kombat or Kombat Racing like in previous MK games which were very enjoyable.

Overall this is without a doubt the best fighting game on the PS3 so far and is well worth checking out, at least just to fill the gap until Street Fighter IV arrives later this year.

A good, if somewhat generic Beat em up3
I have played & owned every MK game to date, and am a massive fan of the characters from the DC Universe, so was thrilled to hear that a new beat em up was coming featuring both sets of characters. For the 1st time you can pit Batman against Sub-Zero or Superman against Raiden. Overall there are 22 characters in total from the 2 franchises to choose from. The presentation and graphics are good without being brilliant - an oh-so familiar problem with a lot of modern beat-em'ups. Most of the backgrounds are boring and look a bit sub standard as well. The sound effects are good, but some of the voices are very cheesy to say the least.
The moves are a bit slow at times, although the ripping costumes, and brusing are good, and the supermoves are also impressive. However, they have clearly toned down the 'Fatalities' from previous MK games, and most MK fans (like me) will be be bitterly disappointed about this. The fact is that this game may not last you long. There just is not the much to see or do, and for me the novelty of the appeal wore off quite quickly, which is a crying shame, plus there is not a lot going on with online options, although I expect that to be different when it starts selling, which I am sure it will, no matter what I say. Overall then a 6 out of 10, and could have been so much better.
