A rare chance to see a past star in action4
Craig Russell sadly died of an AIDS related illness but his genius lives on in this movie, along with the sequel Too Outrageous. Ostensibly fiction it is, in fact, a thinly veiled telling of his friendship with schizophrenic Margaret Gibson.
By modern standards the film has appalling production values but, considering it was made on a shoe-string, it stands up remarkably well. It is notable mostly for the rare opportunity to see Russell reprising some of his many characters from his cabaret shows in an authentic seventies gay scene in Canada and New York.

If I'd known you'd be here, I'd have worn my leather boa !!5
The film may have the appearance of having been developed at Boots, and the sub plot is quite unusual but there is really only one reason to watch this - Craig Russell's masterclass in drag ! From an acerbic Bette Davis - 'One should always speak good of the dead. Joan Crawford. She's dead. GOOD !!' to an ear shattering Ethel Merman - 'Hi my name is Ethel Merman, and I love to sing, so I hope you like lyrics 'cos you're sure gonna hear them !'. He may be gone but he most certainly will live on. Buy this if, like me, you have suffered watching many a tired old drag queen in the back room of many a seedy bar, and rejoice in watching a
true master at work! Bone Appetit !
