Product Description

From humble origins to glittering success at home and abroad, Tottenham Hotspur is a name synonymous with the glamour, prestige, and romance of football's heyday. Ever since a group of schoolboys gathered beneath a street light to form a team soon dubbed 'the Flower of the South', the club pioneered an adventurous style that made the Spurs name famous around the world. This lovingly compiled book is a photographic celebration of North London's greatest club, drawing on the thousands of outstanding pictures contained within the Daily Mirror's huge archive. It portrays a golden age not just for Tottenham but for football as a whole, before the modern era of GBP150,000-a-week players and WAGs, when Spurs carried all before them in cup and league, blazed a trail for British clubs in Europe and, most famously, secured the first domestic double of the 20th century with a team still rated by many as the best British football has ever produced. All the club's legendary figures, from Nicholson to Perryman, Dimmock to Hoddle, are of course featured, but this is much more than a visual record of famous names and great games. It provides a unique, behind- the-scenes insight into the day-to-day atmosphere of a major club down the years, the nooks and crannies of the White Hart Lane stadium, the players, the fans, the characters and the offbeat quirks and curiosities that helped make Spurs so special. Wonderfully nostalgic and hugely evocative, here are the people, places and events that made this renowned club what it is today.

Glory, Glory!5
Brilliant. I picked up a copy the other week and if, like me, you loved football in the `good old days' then this is right up your street. It's full of great photographs, stories and info about proper players and games, and there's plenty on the fans down the years as well as well as stuff behind the scenes. There are some fantastic shots of the European games, the Double side and the 1980s - my favourite era when Spurs were one of the most successful sides in the country, not just the top club in London. I still enjoy football now but it's not a patch on what it used to be and this book is a superb reminder of the glory days for Spurs and football in general.

Best Spurs book for years5
This book is just astonishingly good.
A real pager turner with plenty of surprises and lots of new images and will surely be up there with the classic Spurs books in time
