Product Description

Written especially for the older beginner, Pianoworks 1 explains all you need to know to get you started on the piano. It focuses on the traditional concept of learning to play from music but also includes hints on improvisation and playing by ear. At every stage there is an appealing and accessible range of pieces to play, from classical to modern in style, including a number of new pieces by the authors. New ideas are introduced at a steady pace, and examples and exercises reinforce learning and build confidence. There are useful notes on how to approach each piece, and a CD contains performances of all the pieces, accompaniments to play along with, demonstrations, and additional exercises. Pianoworks 1 can be used with a teacher or as a stand-alone resource.

Editorial Reviews

Review
. . . a fine package designed to stimulate and train beginners from the age of about 13 upwards. It incorporates all sorts of music and is presented in an attractive, unpatronising and adult manner. The Bullards have exemplary credentials and I admire the way they have gone about this difficult task. (John York, Piano Sept 2007 )

Many, many thanks and congratulations on a superb publication - I`m thrilled to bits with it. (A piano teacher )

I have been looking for a good tutor for some time. This fits the bill and is excellent. I have been using a variety of adult books and none have been satisfactory. (A piano teacher )

Book 2 is in preparation and will certainly bring the student to an even higher level of performance if the present collection's interesting and challenging content is maintained. (Piano Professional, Summer 08 )

Customer Reviews

A Good Tutor For the Adult Beginner4
I bought this tutor recently having looked closely at the competition (Alfreds, Carl Humpries, etc). I like the intelligent format and the good balance between theory and practical workouts. The accompanying CD was an essential part of my decision to buy - it offers solo walk-throughs of excercises and "duets", and transfers nicely onto a piano-top ipod!

I'm a beginner piano student and this book and CD, coupled with my piano teacher, has been a rewarding introduction to a great instrument.

Great for the older learner....5
My daughter is 13 and has piano lessons at school. She was recommended to get this particular piano book by her piano tutor. Its great for the older child although it is not an absolute beginners book.

Easy to use piano tutor4
I have just started using this piano tutor with two of my adult students (the other is using the Classic Piano Course). It is well laid out, easy to use, with the additional benefit of a cd which allows students (and teacher) to listen to the pieces they are learning, as well as having the opportunity to play a duet. It encourages early familiarity and playing hands together within the first 25 pages.
