Amazon.co.uk Review
Remix collections, like best-ofs and reissues only more so, can typically be seen as little more than cynical cash-ins--a way for record companies to churn out product of little value in between albums for minimal outlay and maximum gain. But quality begets quality and Boombox, a slinky anthology of alternative takes from Kylie’s latter-day post-hot-pants career is for the most part as sultry and seductively rooted to the dancefloor as you would expect it to be. The standard is set high from the off with the infamous “Can’t Get Blue Monday Out Of My Head” mash-up fusing potentially the best pop song of the last decade (that’s the peerless “Can’t Get You Out Of My Head”) with the best pop song of the 80s (New Order’s “Blue Monday”) with inevitably spine-tingling results. The rest of the tracks on offer segue together effectively, managing to eek out a series of moods while retaining a central discipline faithful to the stylised niche she’s carved herself since the turn of the century. From Whitey’s boxy stomping revamp of “Red Blooded Woman”, to Mylo’s blissed-out techno take on “I Believe In You”, Fischerspooner’s wide-eyed multi-layered grind through “Come Into My World” punctuated by hi-hat shrapnel and wicked synthesised bass, and Chemical Brothers’ taut minimalist attack on the slight, breathy “Slow” this is undoubtedly an impressive line-up to have collected under one roof, on the same dancefloor --James Berry

Customer Reviews
Not great!
I am a huge Kylie fan but have more often than not been disappointed with the mixes of the singles. Dannii's mixes have been far better over the last 10 years or so! This really is for the die-hard fan's. Many of the mixes don't really go anywhere, and in some cases the best mixes are not included. There are better mixes around of Your Disco Needs You, On A Night Like This and especially The One, the Freemasons mix being much better than the version here! Look forward to a brand new album before too long!!!
Make it rock rock rock rock..........
I love Kylie, but this album is nothing new really. Most of the remixes have been avaliable long ago. Its an odd selection. I have always wanted Kylie to remox her songs - with more emphasis on the vocal. These banging tunes (not all, but most) would never be played in the type of clubs they are aimed at. Bring back the old extended 12" remixes with singing and vocal looping on.
I bought this so I could get Boombox and I am disappointed, its not a good mix. It sounds like a veyr poor B side.
Still, as a Kylie fan I bought it and it will remain in mint condition as part of my collection.
I look forward to some new material! Until then... there is Britney.
Sorry fans !!!
I am sorry to have to report that I didn't enjoy this at all, not one little bit. I thought I was perhaps being too quick to judge but having listened through several more times, it is just not growing on me. I appreciate this will upset a lot of Kylie fans but I guess I don't like change and will learn from the this - I'll stick to non-remixes in future.
