Cool!
I wasn't sure what to expect, but this is a very fun toy! It makes great "battle clash" sounds when the blade makes contact - great. You need to use it in the almost dark to appreciate the colours, but hey, why not? I totally agree with previous reviews.
Awesome
I bought this to give to my 4-year old nephew for his birthday. His eyes just lit up when he saw it, and he was thrilled when he realised that it could light up and make battle sounds. The rest of his birthday party was then spent in darkness as he switched off all the lights to show it off better (although the light was strong enough anyway). While this toy probably doesn't have any educational value, and I've yet to see how durable it is, it's clearly a fab toy for any young (or old) Star Wars fan and is cheap. Overall, I'm very impressed and would definitely buy it again as a present. It doesn't come with batteries so make sure you get some to avoid disappointment
Durable enduring fun
Quick down-to-earth description: Handle part with on-off and colour change (red/blue) buttons, telescopic plastic blade (retracts into self but not handle, so sabre not so short retracted). Ignite and 'unignite' sound, clash sound every second clash, background hum. Good volume -- not too quiet, not annoyingly loud. Lit blade shows best in dimmer than broad daylight conditions.
Well, that was it, apart from the fact that they look great, are a lot of fun and haven't broken in a year (and when I say 'they', you will of course require two for battle to commence). The fact that they have put the price up tells you something (mine were around £12 last year and a total giveaway). This product truly fulfils its function -- if sword fights with effects are your thing, you certainly can't go wrong.
