A well written guide for all levels
Fundamental Karate is a well written text book, which clearly explains the key basic techniques and stances found in Shotokan Karate. The authors themselves are world renowned for their technical abilities and this comes through in both the photographs and the written content. Whilst this may be of greatest benefit to those just commencing their karate training, I continue to refer back to the book now, after 25 years of training. Utilising the correct techniques means that your training is healthy for your body and in my view, Fundamental Karate is the next best thing to training with the gentlemen themselves to learn this.
I strongly recommend this book
A tremendous book to help anyone perfect their basics.
When I first read this book, I felt that a whole new world had been opened up to me. The authors, Hazzard & Trimble have produced a tremendous point of reference for the beginner to black belt. Although it focusses on basic stances, punches, kicks and strikes - if one adheres to the principles exponed - the improvement in ones overall understanding and execution of techniques can be quite surprising. This humble reviewer's opinion is that it is a tremendously valuable reference to all practitioners of Karate, regardless of age, ability or experience. Get it soon!
