Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Michael Jackson's Thriller is the bestselling album of all time, with 45 million worldwide sales powered by eight Grammy Awards. The 1982 album was also a success from which the pop superstar never really recovered--subsequent albums seemed to have no other goal than to beat the records set by Thriller. The highly- polished sound of Quincy Jones's production sounds almost organic compared to Jackson's more recent work, and in the same regard, Thriller was significantly slicker than its predecessor, Off the Wall. Both albums established a Jackson style that aimed for the dance floor with songs built on a state-of-the-art bed of percussion and keyboards. Elements of milestone Thriller tracks like "Billie Jean" (arguably Jackson's best-ever performance) and "Beat It" (with its hard- rock solo by guitarist Eddie Van Halen) influenced not just Jackson's records, but those of the entire dance-pop world. On the song "Thriller", Jackson indulged his taste for the juvenile and invited Vincent Price to rap in a really scary voice. With Thriller the album, Jackson created a different kind of monster--a hit album of such magnitude that it would have an irrevocable impact not just on the singer's art, but on his altogether kooky life. --John Milward

CD Description
Originally released in 1982, 'Thriller' became Michael Jackson's biggest selling solo album. 'Billie Jean', 'Wanna Be Startin' Something', 'Thriller' and his duet with Paul McCartney 'The Girl Is Mine' all reached the top ten. 'Beat It' was his only number one hit single from the album. Produced byQuincy Jones, 'Thriller' saw Michael Jackson expanding on his Motown influenced sound for the first time by fusing souland funk with edgy rock and pop.

Another winner - likely the last winner from Jackson5
Still one of the best selling albums ever and there is good reason why. Michael Jackson is incredibly talented and there was a point in time when he picked more, shall we say, mainstream ways to showcase his talent. Along with "Off The Wall" this is easily the pinnacle of Michael Jackson's career. Everyone will remember Billie Jean to be one of the best songs of the eighties and Thriller to be the most anticipated video of the decade. All that said, I don't know that I would actually buy this cd again. I would readily buy "Off The Wall" but this one just doesn't have the same appeal for me. This is a great cd though, and if you are yearning for some classic Michael Jackson from back when he was someone you actually wanted to see in concert, then do purchase this cd.

simply excellent!!!!5
Whether it MJ's best album or not is debateable since people all have different opinions and i myself find it hard decide which is my favourite....
However it can not be denied that THRILLER is simply an excellent and superb album that is sort of a mixture of the disco feeling from OFF THE WALL and the pop from BAD!
All of the songs are great and the album is put together so well, it opens with WANNA BE STARTIN SOMETHIN which is worth listening to for the introduction alone and is sort of a poppy number while BILLIE JEAN(which is regarded as one of the best pop songs of all time)is not all out pop as we see it now as it so smooth and soulfull and has a great beat and rythm to it, its great.
BABY BE MINE(again a great intro to it) and P.Y.T are the disco offerings and are in my opinion as good as or better than the disco tracks from the OFF THE WALL album.
HUMAN NATURE is just an amazing track that is just so smooth and beautiful, the lyrics are great and the music(especially the subtle and delicate guitar strokes) complement it beautifully.
And of course BEAT IT just ROCKS!!!!!
The bonus tracks on the special edition are good too, the early demo of BILLIE JEAN sounds so cool!!
Basically THRILLER is a superb album that has now sold over 50 million copies and had 7 of its 9 tracks come out as singles so theres got to be somwthing pretty great about it!!
I THINK I'LL GO AND PLAY IT NOW!!!!!!!!

EVERYONE, EVERYWHERE SHOULD OWN THIS ALBUM BY NOW!5
I cannot comprehend that anybody can say that Michael Jackson's musical ability is out of this world! This album shows MJ's talent at its prime and should have won more than 8 grammies!

I couldn't believe that Michael could do a better album than "Off the wall" and he did!! "Thriller" has got to be one of my all-time favourite albums! Words cannot describe the sensation of listening to all of these tracks again without stopping for a cup of tea, now that they have been digitally remastered. "Thriller" was the first album I ever owned. It was a christmas present in 1991 and I loved it then as much as I do now! I couldn't even begin to tell you my favourite tracks from this album because they're all equally fantastic!

Whether you like soul, pop, disco or rock, there's something here for everyone! The classics "Billie Jean," "Thriller" and "Wanna Be Startin' Somethin'" provide the 80's disco-pop anthems for this CD and even now, 20 years later are still sounding almost brand-new and are constantly being played on the airwaves and in clubs etc. "Beat it" with Eddie Van Halen's electric, fast-pace guitar solo provides the rock-anthem and the soulful "Human Nature" sampled by SWV for "Right here" provides the classic soul, album-track anthem. Interestingly,on "PYT" Janet and LaToya Jackson provide their vocals and help to add to the soulful 80's sound!

Paul McCartney's duet with "The Girl is mine" has got to be one of the best records ever and it is so catchy! This album shows that Michael doesn't write throw-away pop as all of these tracks are still being heard today and are as popular as they were in 1982! Time certainly hasn't tarnished this album.

GO AND BUY IT IMMEDIATELY-THIS SHOULD BE BOUGHT AT THE SAME TIME WITH "OFF THE WALL" "BAD" AND "DANGEROUS."
