Product Description

Tae Kwon Do is a sport, a martial art, a fun way to keep fit and means of self-defence that is suited to the modern age. The author's career has spanned what is arguably the most crucial period in the martial art's development. Since the 1970s it has changed from a tool of war to a safe, competetive sport. Topics include: an introduction to Tae Kwon Do and its grading system; stances, weapons and vulnerable points of the body are covered; training principles for strength, flexibility and speed are outlined and the spectacular kicks that distinguish this martial art are also described.

Tae Kwon Do5
This book is definately a must for all those who are interested in Tae Kwon Do and those who are training in Tae Kwon Do. This book serves as an excellent reference guide for general training such as patterns, sparring, stretching and how to perfect your stances. It describes in detail target areas of the body and the attack best suited for that part of the body and what happens to it after .. the affects of the attack.

It also has a very good history of Tae Kwon Do, where it started and how it has progressed to the modern day sport it has become today.

It also explains how you can improve your training to attain perfection in almost all your training.. such as improving the quality of your kicks, how to perfect your stances such as L stance and walking stance etc.

It is also a very good description to anyone considering joining Tae Kwon Do, as the explainations are very good and it has very good advice on how to go about starting.

TAGB5
A good book to read for anyone, especially those training in Tae Kwon Do!! This book is the first i've read written by a TAGB member, and I have found it very helpful in many ways.

It has a wide range of topics from attaining perfection in your kicks, stretching exercises and what happens to our muscles when we stretch, how to focus the mind in training aspects such as competitions, patterns or even basic kicks and much much more!!

Put it this way I've read this book twice and it also serves as a good reference guide in my everyday training.

Buy it! :-)

Fascinating insight for beginners and experts alike5
Even if you are not a TAGB student, I would urge you to read this book. It is far more than a technical reference - although it will serve you well in that respect. It gives a fascinating and holistic view of the background and philosophy of modern tae kwon do the as seen through the eyes of Master Dave Oliver, 7th dan black belt and Chairman of the TAGB. I found the book reassuring, down to earth and refreshingly pragmatic. Far too many books on tae kwon do are rather intimidating or, at the other end of the scale, patronising, both for the beginner and black belt alike. Read this book and you will find it enlightening, empathetic and very reassuring.
