Excellent Overview Of Some of ITCs Best Known Series
THE PERSUADERS!, THUNDERBIRDS, THE PRISONER, THE CHAMPIONS, SPACE:1999...the position of Lord Lew Grades ITC company in the cult tv market is examined in this book. If you want to wallow in nostalgia about some of your favourite tv shows of the 60s and 70s, then this is for you.
My only gripe would be the brief coverage given to some series, and obviously there are favourites which perhaps could have been included. But overall a splendid summary of ITC output, illustrated with b+w pics and including comments from ITC actors, actresses and production staff, many of which have been obtained in new and recent interviews.
Recommended.

Cult TV: The Golden Age of ITC
"Cult TV" is a very readable, surprisingly amusing and well-researched book about the iconic television shows of the'60's and '70's produced by Lew Grade's company ITC.
It could have been a geeky, over-detailed technical tomb of a manual but Robert Seller's easy going, story-telling style makes it both fascinating and informative.
It depends what you remember watching in the '60's and '70's which chapters will interst you the most. Me - I remember "The Champions", "Randall and Hopkirk (deceased)", "UFO" and "The Persauders" well, but "The Prisoner", "Danger Man", "Man in a Suitcase" and "The Protectors" not so well and a number of the others shows only by their name. But they all made for a good read.
Seller's interviews with over 50 cast and crew gives an amusing insight into the characters and personalities of the TV shows. Who knew "The Prisoner"s Patrick McGoohan was such a puritanical, drunk, control freak, or, that Peter Wyngarde ("Jason King"), who was so adored that his fans literally "grabbed tufts of his pubic hair" when he was mobbed at Syndney Airport, was arrested for "cottaging in the gents's toilets at Leicester bus station" so ending his carreer. Was it true Roger Moore and Tony Curtis couldn't stand each other during the making of "The Persuaders"?
A lovely trip down TV memory lane......
