The perect xmas gift fo those of you brought up in the golden age of kids TV5
Simon Sheridan's writing rang so many bells and brought back very fond memories of so many shows I watched avidly. If your office chats often turn to childrens programmes you will be able to amaze and astound your colleagues with some of the facts Simon has gone to all the trouble to find out. As well as these facts and figures it also reminded me what life was like when I was watching them.

Well done Simon - a thoroughly good read.

Fun and Thoroughly Researched5
I've just bought Simon Sheridan's guide to great children's telly and thoroughly devoured it! Sheridan writes intelligently about the era of classic kids' TV which appeals most to aficionados of the genre - the 60,70s and 80s - all the greats are here - Ivor the Engine, Bagpuss, Roobarb, Mr. Benn, The Clangers, Danger Mouse, the Mister Men - the list goes on and on. Thoroughly researched and very wittily written, what makes this book so different from any others of the subject is that Sheridan actually bothered to interview the makers of the shows, so there's some very illuminating stories about the creation of Chorlton and the Wheelies, Bod, Pipkins (I love Hartley Hare!) and Rainbow etc. Plus David Jason writes a very affectionate introduction. Excellent stuff and highly addictive! 10 stars! A fantastic book!!

Not an A-Z2
I bought this book thinking I was going to receive an A to Z of classic children's TV shows. Admittedly Simon Sheridan has placed his choice of favourite shows (mainly from the 1970's) into alphabetical order, but I expected more shows to be covered than were actually in the book. The introduction is more of a potted biography of the author and does mention several classic programmes which should have been mentioned in greater detail in the main body of the book. The 67 entries (69 if you consider Camberwick Green, Trumpton and Chigley come under one heading) do mention other programmes within their sections but again it is not a true A to Z and so I was very disappointed.
