Erin is a stripper. Her place of work, the tastefully named Eager Beaver, is the scene of an explosive encounter between sex and politics in the shape of Dave Dilbeck, a corrupt congressman who epitomizes crazed, slobbering lechery.

Love It5
This book is fantastic - one that I will definitely read again.

I couldn't get over it when I found out that this is the book of the movie Striptease. I never bothered to watch the movie, what with being a girl and having been told that it was not much more than a bunch of naked laydees. I will definitely watch it now, even just to give it some critic and the usual 'the books better' patter.

What I love about Haissen is that you never get that familiar feeling that you know where a storyline is heading - there are too many twists and surprises. Striptease is no exception.

Haissen is slightly sick without being sickening, he has a hilariously funny black sense of humour and his books are real page-turners.

I have also read Sick Puppy, which I found to be slightly more shocking and even more enjoyable.

If you like Carl Haissen you will probably enjoy Colin Bateman and Christopher Brookmyre.

FORGET YOU'VE EVER SEEN THE FILM!5
This book has become highly underrated since the release of the film of the same name, starring Burt Reynolds and Demi Moore.
The book itself is written with a dry wit seldom found in todays novels but in which Hiaasen continues to excel. Hiaasen has the ability to keep you engrossed in his work until the ironically dry and inevitable conclusion.
His choice of plot for this outing is an unusual but captivating one in which the colourful characters of a seedy Miami strip joint leaving you chuckling to yourself for hours.
The plot focuses on Erin Grant, a divorced mother who is determined to win back the custody of her daughter at any cost. Her fight against an ex-husband who steals wheelchairs while overdosing on canine tranquilizers leaves her short on cash and unable to afford courtroom custody battles. In an attempt to make some 'easy money' she turns to dancing at the 'Eager Beaver Club'.
The story begins to unfold with the appearance of a drunken Senator Dilbeck at the Club one night which has far reaching consequences both for his career and Erins custody hopes.
If you've already read this and are looking for your next choice, try Native Tongue. In my opinion it's his best work to date (if you find the prospect of a horny bottlenose dolphin trying to 'befriend' a security guard amusing!).

Another enjoyable comic caper by Hiaasen3
The one thing you can say about Hiaasen's books is that you'll never be disappointed with the endings. His novels are neither thrillers nor mysteries. As one of his characters mentions, it's more about "sweet justice". In this comic caper, it's Erin Gant's turn to set things straight with her ex-husband, who currently has custody over their daughter and likes to steal wheelchairs, and a congressman, who is obsessed with her, simply because she's the best dancer at the Eager Beaver strip club. Blackmail drives this plot as certain unsavory characters try to expose the congressman for assaulting a patron at the Eager Beaver. Hiassen gives his characters an unhealthy dose of ambition, which often leads to amusing hijinks. Many of them are obsessed with get-rich-quick schemes, and they end up falling on their face. Get ready for lots of laughs.
