Product Description

Captain Hastings recounts 18 of Poirot's early cases from the days before he was famous...Hercule Poirot delighted in telling people that he was probably the best detective in the world. So turning back the clock to trace eighteen of the cases which helped establish his professional reputation was always going to be a fascinating experience. With his career still in its formative years, the panache with which Hercule Poirot could solve even the most puzzling mystery is obvious. Chronicled by his friend Captain Hastings, these eighteen early cases - from theft and robbery to kidnapping and murder - were all guaranteed to test Poirot's soon-to-be-famous 'little grey cells' to their absolute limit.

About the Author
Agatha Christie was born in Torquay in 1890 and became, quite simply, the best-selling novelist in history. Her first novel, The Mysterious Affair at Styles, written towards the end of the First World War, introduced us to Hercule Poirot, who was to become the most popular detective in crime fiction since Sherlock Holmes. She is known throughout the world as the Queen of Crime. Her books have sold over a billion copies in the English language and another billion in 100 foreign countries. She is the author of 80 crime novels and short story collections, 20 plays, and six novels under the name of Mary Westmacott.

Customer Reviews

Lovely light fare5
The first of Poirot's cases, and though not as detailed and textured as later ones, these stories are hugely enjoyable, with that light touch, sharp intelligence and touches of deft humour that are charateristic of Christie, plus settings of wonderfully fruity extravagance. Lots of fun!

Poirot4
Poirot's Early Cases are fairly short mysteries for the famous Hercule Poriot but there are eighteen stories read by David Suchet (Poriot) & Hugh Fraser (Captain Hastings).

These stories are spread over 7 discs the total running time is almost 9 nine hours which is great for a very long trip. Any Agatha Christie fan will enjoy these short stories and Poirot fan will like hearing about his early years.

Poirot's Early Cases have been out on Casstte but I think CD's are better more portable and never loses sound qaulity and can be played anywhere, anytime if you have some of the most famous stoires this is your next buy.
