A very child friendly dictionary
An excellent resource both at home and at school. This book is aimed at children aged 5-8. It is very simple to use with clear illustrations and some photos. Definitions are well written and easy to understand. Also 'topic' pages such as parts of a bike, animals, numbers etc. are useful. A "must have in the classroom" book.
Very Disappointing
I bought this dictionary for my 5 year old who was forever asking what words meant and I wanted to encourage her to look in a dictionary for herself instead of keeping on asking me! Soon after we got the dictionary she asked me what asthma was, she was promptly told to go and look it up. Unfortuntely it wasn't there. OK, I thought maybe a bit high level, so waited until the next time. This time it was indeed that wasn't there, and so it went on. Out of about 30 words she has asked about only 3 or 4 were in the dictionary. She was rapidly getting put off, and therefore I am now having to look for another one which has a wider range. Wouldn't recommend at all as it is very very basic.
