Authoritative
Amongst the plethora of A-level books I have used, this stands out for me as being authoritative yet accessible. I first used it as a course book for my Glaciation A-level teaching, and have since used it as a source of information on other topics, such as weathering and erosion. It is a proper A-level book, not the usual dumbed-down GCSE+ book, with sections encouraging the key A-level A grade skill of debating, questioning, evaluating evidence, etc. - paraphrased "it could be like this - and this is the evidence, but it just might be like this - and here's the evidence to support that idea" - e.g. on whether glacial erosion was really responsible for the formation of glacial troughs (or whether meltwater or post-glacial processes had a greater role).
I used it with great success at my independent school for 9 years - but with the less confident (and less literate) students in the Academy I moved to, I learned to use it sparingly, as they found the 'density' intimidating. An excellent teacher-resource in any context, nevertheless.
