From the Author
Who might want to read this book?
This book continues to be very popular amongst those interested in child development both academically and professionally. It is widely used as an introductory text in child development, nursery nursing, psychology, and some access and BTEC and GNVQ courses. It also sells to people who work with children as childminders and interested parents. It is written in a user-friendly, no nonsense style, avoiding unnecessary jargon, and presenting evidence for the various claims about the needs of young children.

An Introduction to Child Development by G C Davenport5
I have found this book invaluable for my studies on the Foundation Degree in Early Childhood Studies. It is very easily understood with plenty of diagrams and pictures to break up the text.
It has been especially useful for detailed information on the major child development theorists such as Piaget, Bruner and Skinner etc.
I would recommend this book to anyone who needs to study theorists but is finding it all rather baffling. This book makes it all a lot clearer with just about the right amount of depth.

most comprehensive, covering all the main child theorist5
A most comprehensive book, covering the main child theorist. An exelent starter book for child phycology, cover cognitive development, moral and social behaviour. Perfect reference material, including behaviorists.
