Amazon.co.uk Review
A sizzling (literally) collection from one of Britain's foremost vegetarian cookery writers. Rose Elliot says that once people had stopped asking her: "What do vegetarians eat for Christmas dinner?" they took to asking: "What do they eat at barbecues?" You might well ask. If Vegetarian Barbecues and Grills is anything to go by, it's fare the most confirmed carnivores might envy while chewing (and chewing) their blackened lumps of whatever. More than 150 simple but sophisticated recipes cover the gamut of alfresco grilling and dining. Knowing that half the art of barbecuing is in the preparation, Rose Elliot gives a generous sampling of marinades, pastes and butters to get the flavours going before the food hits the grill. Dips include treats such as Artichoke Paste and Smoky Aubergine Dip. Kebabs, vegetable dishes and burger-type preparations (yes, there are a couple of nut burgers here) take in European styles, like cheesy Glamorgan sausages and Grilled Herb or Olive Polenta, but also range more widely afield with Thai Sweetcorn Fritters or Baby Aubergines Japanese-Style. A delectable collection of ices and sorbets (not grilled) is followed by enticing grilled fruit recipes (Grilled Chocolate Bananas, Grilled Pineapple with Brown Sugar and Rum) and--barbecuing being hot work--a handful of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. This book could seriously affect your barbecuing habits. You might even not miss the meat.--Robin Davidson
Review
With recipes for unusual combinations of vegetables and side salads, and a wide choice of dips, marinades, pastes, sauces and salsas adding yet more taste and colour, this is another inspiring selection from Elliot. Barbecue basics feature in wonderfully imaginative guises and even hardened carnivores will be unable to resist Thai sweetcorn fritters or asparagus and oyster mushroom kebabs. Desserts include ices, sorbets and, for the thoroughly decadent, grilled chocolate bananas. Best of all, you can grill as well as barbecue most of the 150 recipes. (Kirkus UK)

Excellent book, looking at Vegetarian cooking a new way!!
This is a really great summer cookery book. Both myself, my family and my guests have appreciated much that is in it.
Rose introduces us to a whole new set of ingrediants as well as new ways to look at old ones. You'll never look at tomato ketchup the same way again.
A vegetarian summer just got better
Yummy veggies!
I love Rose Elliot's Vegetarian Grills. Finally I can grill all the nice veggies I'd like to have during the summer! I'm not a vegetarian but I loved all the recipes as did all the ones who tried them. There is no need to "have to" to appreciate the mushroom and cheese burger, or the marinated aubergines, they taste great!
This book will amaze even non-vegetarians!
This book has the most creative and flavorful recipes and has surprised all of my non-vegetarian guests. The recipes are consistently excellent and easy-to-make and contain a variety of fresh ingredients for everyone's tastes.
