A view of the world - the Collins Illustrated Atlas5
This atlas provides a comprehensive guide to the countries of the world. It gives you with information about the flag, currency, population, religions and climate of each country as well as detailed maps showing major cities and towns, mountains and rivers.

I enjoyed using this atlas as I could get the latest information on countries especially recently independent countries such as Bosnia, Croatia and the former Soviet Republics. The maps are easy to read and each map shows a different level of detail so it is easy to picture in your mind where places are in relation to each other. The colour shading also gives you an appreciation, at a glance, how high mountains are and how the climates of different regions compare. The atlas also provides you with pictures of the people and places of different countries, giving you an insight into the various customs and cultures of the world.

You will refer back to this atlas time and time again for getting useful information on different countries - It is a thoroughly enjoyable and educational read for your bookshelf.
