This book investigates and explains a number of the various fatal viral diseases which have emerged over the last few decades, such as Hantavirus and Ebolavirus. It is written in a very engaging and rivetting style, and despite the awfulness of the scenarios described, it is very difficult to put down...
Frank Ryan asks a lot of awkward questions about how we engage with the natural world, and the consequences for us of encroaching on other species' natural habitat. For one thing, it has explained to me the origin of the squirrel pox epidemic in the UK!
This book is essential reading for anyone who has an enquiring mind.
