Percy the park keeper loves to spend time with his animal friends, even though his work in the park keeps him very busy. The animals often need Percy to lend a helping hand, like the time when the fox was a little bit chilly! Percy receives yet another kind gift from his Auntie Joyce, he's happy to offer it to the rather chilly fox. But the fox can't wear all of Auntie Joyce's knitting at once, which gives Percy an idea!

A favourite Percy the park keeper story
In this story Percy gets a parcel from his aunt, who knits him misshapen garments. Fox, who's been chilly at night, tries them all on at once, before taking the jumper, and Percy uses the others for a successful scarecrow.
Nick Butterworth's exquisite illustrations make all the Percy the Park Keeper books into something special. They are lovely gentle stories set in a large park where the characters, other than Percy himself, are the woodland animals - fox, for example in this story - and there's soft underlying decency and a little humour in each. Every small child should have at least one in their collection. Because my children laugh at the pictures where Fox tries on the knitted balaclava (which squashes his ears so he can't hear) and the rest of the clothes, this is one of my favourites and I recommend it wholeheartedly.
Excellent. Funny and silly, children love it!
I work in a nursery and the children loved this story, as they love all the Percy books. This story is requested again and again. It's particulary appropriate for winter themed activities.
