Product Description

The Babylon Game is the second magical book in the exciting new series The Seven Fabulous Wonders. Based on the seven ancient wonders of the world, Katherine Roberts weaves an enticing web -- where the ancient world meets pure fantasy. The year is 539 BC. In the ancient city of Babylon -- known as the gateway of God -- Tia, the adopted daughter of a perfume maker, is gathering herbs in the sacred Amytis garden. Surrounding the hanging garden is a double defence wall, protecting Babylon from invaders. But between the double wall, Tia makes a wonderful discovery -- for adding to the city's defence is a pack of ancient dragons known as sirrush. Fearing for the dragons, who look lean and hungry, Tia leaves them food. But when one of the dragons touches her hand, Tia is granted magical powers of such strength, they have the capacity to save or destroy Babylon. For out in the plains, the Persian King, Cyrus the Great, is planning to capture Tia's city. The hanging gardens may hold the key to Babylon's salvation but only one person can access their magic! A CollinsVoyager title for 8 -- 12 year-olds, boys and girls.

Brilliantly different!5
The Babylon Game is the story of a game, okay, but I bet you never played THIS game before! It is the Game of Twenty Squares, an ancient Babylonian board game with a magical element and luck... Tiamat is in the Twenty Squares team, but not very good at the game until she sneaks up on the walls of Babylon in the middle of the night and get herself licked by one of the dragons guarding the city. This gives her amazing luck, and also a magical ability to open the gateways between worlds...
This book wasa bit like a gateway for me, taking me to a very different world of ancient Persia and Babylonia(Iran and Iraq), where amazing things can and do happen. Some of the words used were quite weird, but there was a guide at the back to explain them. Babylon was the place of the Hanging Gardens, one of the seven wonders of the world, and I could really smell the flowers in the gardens. I have never read anything quite like this before. Try this series. I guarantee you won't be disappointed.

fun, adventurous and full of twisted events4
The book is a mixture of history, myth, legend and fantasy and is set in 539BC in the city of Babylon, which is meant to be the centre of the world.
The story is about an orphan girl named Tiamat, who gets licked by a Sirrush (a dragon) on her left hand. The proof of the luck brings Tiamat's 'extraordinary' luck and power. Tiamat, as the Babylonian people say, has the favours of God which always help her to win many difficult 'Twenty Squares' games. She even defeats the game master of the Egibi family. Her 'rare and impossible' power can open any gates between the worlds and also the Oceanly and Heavenly Gates, which are believed just a legend. The mad King of Babylon and his Demon spend their lives in search the Oceanly and Heavenly Gates unsuccessfully just to eat the fruit of eternal life like in legend said. They would kill any one who stands in their way and torture anybody to gain the clues to the Gates. While the King and his evil men doing their dirty work, Tiamat with her friends have heaps of worries about the rescue for the Sirrush and the Twenty Squares championship. Will Tiamat has the will, courage and the power to do the dangerous mission and to full-fill her destiny? You have to read the book to find out.
Determination, strong-will, magic, power and adventures will drag you till the end of the book.
