A high-speed space-chase unfolds as QPootle5 and his friend, Oopsy, flee from three hungry bladder monsters. QPootle5 is playing hide-and-seek with his friend, Oopsy, when three hungry bladder monsters arrive on the scene. Anxious they might be eaten, QPootle5 and Oopsy fly their spaceships to safety on their huge friend, Planet Dave. Hiding behind Dave's nose, they shake the bladder monsters off their trail. Dave is pleased to have had some visitors -- he's a bit lonely and wishes he was a bigger planet, with moons to dance with. When the coast is clear, QPootle5 and Oopsy head off They stop on an asteroid for lunch, only to find themselves face-to-face with the bladder monsters. But Oopsy confronts the monsters, telling them they are not big enough to be scary. The monsters want to be bigger, so she pumps air into them using the spaceship's lateral stabilising jet. QPootle5 puts the monsters on strings, like balloons, and takes them to Planet Dave, who is delighted. It's not quite as good as having moons, but the monsters-on-strings are better than nothing and you never know, he might be able to teach them to dance.

Customer Reviews
My son loves it but it could be more fun for Mum or Dad
This book is perhaps not one of Nick Butterworth's best (Stories Jesus Told is excellent) but my 3 year old son I am sure will disagree as he cannot get enough of it.
If your child is interested in space, planets and monsters this is likely to be a big hit. In its favour it is well illustrated and nice and big but the story is not profound or very exciting especially when you have read it once, but be prepared - once will not be enough!
Nice pictures
I bought this book for my sons because they love aliens and monsters. The illustrations are wonderful, exactly what I would expect from Nick Butterworth but I found the story a little poor. I dont think I would consider buying this again.
Actually give it 4 stars
Bought this because my 3 year old loved the 'Q Pootle 5' that we got from the library. The illustrations to 'Q Pootle 5 in Space!' are as good as the first, but I can't imagine more than 10 seconds thought went into the writing. It's just gibberish. Bad enough that I can see this, but so can my boy - he just doesn't want to listen to the story and this, I'm afraid, is a cardinal sin in my eyes. Where's the simple story telling of the original 'Q Pootle 5' gone? Avoid
Addendum 19th May - wrote the above back in March, since then this book has become one of my boy's favourites. So I guess I was wrong to give it a bad review. Can't seem to edit my star rating, but would up it to 4 if I could.
