Check out this Tree Meditation from Natural Witchcraft.
If you are feeling tired or stressed, if you need reassurance that your magical skills will develop, you might benefit from a bit of Tree Power. One exercise you can do, to give you a connection with Mother Nature, is to find a good, strong and healthy tree of a species you recognise, where you can stand or sit at its feet. Take off your shoes if you can, and stand with your back to the tree, straightening your spine as much as you can, and reaching back with your hands behind your hips to clasp the trunk. Stand very still and relax. Listen to any sounds, of wind in the leaves, the movements of small animals, birdsong or the hum of insects. Gradually allow yourself to lean more closely into the tree and feel its strength and support. Feel your feet, and imagine they too have roots, sinking down beside those of the tree, deep into the earth. Feel rooted and secure. As you continue to explore this sensation, imagine a honey-like essence of earth energy beginning to flow up through your feet. Feel it, like warm, smooth syrup, filling you up with a golden source of life energy. Begin to sense the slow way of life of your chosen tree, how days and nights are swift to pass, and that the seasons have a greater impact.

Sense the coldness of a barren winter giving way to the joy of the spring sunshine. Feel yourself deeply connected to the Earth, drawing nourishment from it, and being made stronger and more in control. Allow your senses to spread like summer leaves, blossom like sweet flowers, reach out around you like long branches moved by a gentle summer wind. Feel the development of your seeds, fruits and nuts and the release as they fall to earth, or are carried away by birds or animals. Feel all the living things around you, the butterflies and moths, the squirrels and all the birds that roost and feed among your leaves. Sense those qualities which trees have that you miss in your own life: the ability to endure through rain and storm; the patience to wait for the coming of spring; the slow change and growth to being a mighty supporter of situations around you.

As you continue to alllow these images and feelings to flow through you, begin to notice a different, light, sparkling energy which falls upon you like the softest raindrops. See this as solar light, the other source from which living thngs are nourished. Feel warmth but also a dynamic, fizzing energy, which shifts through rainbow colours, tingling down from the top of your head to your toes. Sense this being drawn in with every breath you take, permitting life force and healing to be absorbed, right through you. Allow this to drive out any negative feelings you may have, or fears, or doubts. Fill up with both aspects of tree force, the slow enduring honey and the bright, sparkling solar energy, until they flow from your finger tips and toes and top of your head in radiant showers of living light. Remain poised and fully aware of these experiences, and then let them drain away down through your feet to the earth.

A return to traditional witchcraft?4
The author of this book advises people interested in witchcraft to go back to the traditional crafts of the country witch, experiencing the powers of nature and the divine at first hand rather than as words on a page or symbols on an altar. With so many how-to books now available it is only too easy to rely entirely on the ideas and rituals of others, so this approach is very refreshing. My only quibble is the inclusion of some views which, whilst valid in their own right, seem to contradict the main premise of the book. For example, the author states that the positions of all the planets and the exact moment at which the moon becomes full are important in magical workings, but these facts can not be found by observation and would have been unknown to the witch of past times that we are encouraged to emmulate.
Readers with some previous knowledge of magical theories and methods will probably find that "Natural Witchcraft" offers an interesting alternative viewpoint, and inspiration to those who feel constrained by prescriptive rituals and spells in other books.

An inspiration5
I researched various books for the beginner here on Amazon and in bookshops and I am glad that I chose this one as the first one to read. I have not quite finished but already feel enriched by her style and the way Marian puts the responsibility for one's own development squarely where it should be - with the reader. She is not dogmatic about rituals or festivals but suggests we each work on what is important to us.

I have sadly come to the conclusion that there is not enough space/time in my life to devote to doing this properly right now and so feel a little sad. I am sure that her inspiration to invest time and devotion to this process will stay with me, and that at a later date I will return to this book and join her on the path.

Love it5
This book is fab.Marian Green knows her stuff. For anyone starting out in the craft this is a great place to start.
You don't need a coven, expensive tools or OTT rituals all you need is to read this book and use your own mind and heart to do what comes naturally and freely.
