Meet Albie -- a small boy in a weird, wild world. Albie is a six year old boy whose imagination turns his surroundings into wild fantasy and he sees peculiar creatures everywhere. Why does no one else notice them? It's a mystery to Albie. It's just an ordinary night when...Albie wakes up to find his bed has been stolen by penguins. He dashes downstairs in hot pursuit but the penguins are nowhere to be seen. Instead, Albie finds two gnus in the loo dancing a tango, a herd of zebras asleep in the kitchen cupboards and some elephants in the living room, building a baked-bean-fuelled rocket from household furniture - including his bed! But Albie's biggest worry is that his sister Mary has woken up and she will be furious to find that her goldfish bowl has also been stolen by the penguins and is about to be used as a space helmet. And Mary gets the biggest shock of all when she leans on the rocket lever by mistake and shoots off into the night sky.

Customer Reviews
We've all fallen in love with Albie!
We were given the first Albie book as a present, and were immediately tickled by the beautiful writing and bright illustrations. But it wasn't until my young son was given the second book, that Albie really became a legend in our household! It is packed with humour, which really helps from a parents point of view as we still find it entertaining on the 150th reading! But most importantly it has really awoken my son's imagination. He now wants to build space rockets all day long from everything he can lay his hands on. And the repeated words (especially his sister shouting Albiiiiiieeee!) just light my sons eyes up like nothing else.
We really love albie. It seems to have been written with both children and adults in mind, and it is the only book we have that is currently being read about ten times a day. And most of it is stuck together with sticky tape as a result! When's book number three coming out? Soon? PLEASE?
A keeper
I picked up this book at the local library. I thought it was a bit advanced for my 3 year-old, but I was wrong! My child was immediately entranced by the wild imagination of the story and the delightful illustrations. I loved the story too because its crazy logic makes perfect sense to a child. My child kept asking for the book time and time again. After that, I decided it was time to buy a copy of the book as it looks like a real keeper.
Great book that you will keep forever
Children and adults will enjoy reading this together. It is entertaining and is just as funny each time you read it. It is just so well written, and keeps children's attention.
