Review
Lord of the Shadows 'Stephen King for kids ! Darren Shan has brought his own brand of vampire mythology into the heads and hearts of thousands of children with his vivid and compelling series The Saga of Darren Shan, about one boy's journey from ordinary lad to vampire prince. Once they're hooked, kids tend to rip into the flesh of these books, quickly draining them of their life blood. The covers, with images of ghouls, creeping hands and dripping fangs are terrifying alone. ' Metro Life, Evening Standard Cirque Du Freak "!fast-paced and compelling book which leaves the reader hungry for more." JK Rowling "I read Cirque Du Freak last week. I loved it. I love the way you manage to juggle the funny with the unpleasant, the affection with the hurt. It's great story-telling." Roddy Doyle The Vampire's Assistant "The Vampire's Assistant blazes a thrilling, gruesome trail through a fascinating plot." The Good Book Guide Vampire Mountain "Get your teeth into it!" Funday Times

Customer Reviews
"after a bit of a disapointed book 10, I'm thrilled to say..
that the books have gone back on track! "Lord Of The Shadows" is definitely the best of the Darren Shan Saga so far - with huge twists and unpredictable story lines. The book contains many old faces - Debbie, Alice Burgess, Steve, Evanna, Mr. Tall, R.V., Tommy, Darren Shan (of course!), Annie (!), Harkat (aka Kurda), Evra, and the sinister Mr. Tiny. This book is just so amazing!
The Cirque are moving on to a new destination to perform infront of awed crowds - and they're heading for Darren's hometown! He finds out that Annie has a son, and spies on the two of them for a while, until having to go back to the Cirque. A mysterious young boy shows up at the Cirque Du Freak, called Darius, who recieves tickets for the show. Yet he doesn't show up, but Darren's old friend Tommy Jones - now a huge football phenomenon - does! Darren gets tickets to the semi-finals of a football game, but then Tommy gets brutally murdered by Gannen Harst and R.V., leaving Darren distraught. After getting beaten up by Steve Leopard (the Vampaneze Lord) and Darius - who turns out to be Steve's son - he gets found by two Vampirites, humans who are on the Vampire's sides thanks to Darren's old girlfriend Debbie and an ex-chief inspector Alice Burgess. And Debbie is coincidentally at the house where he is being treated. But after Evanna and Mr Tall tell Darren terrible and frightening things of the Lord Of The Shadows, Darren's life turns pure evil...
The book has a fantastic ending, leaving the reader begging for more. I finished this book in two hours, and wish it was a lot longer! The last episode (boo hoo!) in the saga comes to you on October 14th 2004 - when he will be doing a booksigning at Milton Keynes' Ottakars' Book Store from 1pm-2pm - during school!

Without giving much away:
Darren Shan returns home along with his fellow freaks, But things aren't as simple as they first appear. As always there is a twisted plot!
This is an excellent book and is a must for previous Darren Shan readers but just as good for those who are'nt.
