About the Author

Richard Overy is among the world’s most distinguished modern historians. He was editor of The Times History of theWorld (1999) and consultant editor of The Times Atlas of the Second World War (1989). He is Professor of Modern History at King’s College London, and also taught at Queens’ College, Cambridge.
