Synopsis
This exam practice book for A2 students contains detailed advice and tips on how to improve marks and overall grade. The authors are experienced examiners who have been involved in the development of the new AS and A2 physics exams. This volume includes: exam questions covering all core A2 topics; students' answers with hints and tips; "Don't make these mistakes" sections; "Key points to remember" sections; "Questions to try" plus examiner's hints; "How to score full marks" sections; answers and guidance at the back; and coverage of synoptic questions.
From the Publisher
The main focus of this book is to provide students with all the skills they need to achieve higher marks, question by question. The key is using students' answers with specific mark-building guidance rather than the model answer approach.
From the Author
Mike Bowen-Jones is Head of Sciences at Bromsgrove School, Worcs. He is a Principal Examiner for a major examining board and has many years of AS level examining experience. He has been involved in the development of the new AS and A2 Physics specifications.
Customer Reviews
A well written book but lacks information
On my quest to obtain good enough results to get into the university I wanted to I bought about 10 revision guides.
This book caught my eye as it had a weird cover (nothing to do with Physics or exams at all :-) ). When I received the book through the post my first thoughts came true. The book was wafer thin and there was no way that all the whole syllabus (I was studying OCR A) would fit into the book, infact neither exam boards would have. Still I gave it a chance and read the features it did have. The fact is the book is well written even though a bit dull in black, grey and white. The information it does have isn't bad but if you hope to achieve a good grade relying solely on a revision guide (and believe me it can be done) then this isn't the one for you. The Lett's ones are often the best.
Great revision - covers everything
Hi. When I orde4red this book online after some nagging from my mum to dosome revision, I wasnt sure how well it was going to combat the littlestorage space in my brain. But after only 1 hour of revision from it, Ifinally understand circular motion. I like the way it starts a topic byshowing you a typical example of what a student would write in answer to aquestion, with mistakes and marks, and then tells you what you reallyshould write in the answer. Then they give a brief outline of the keypoints in the section. Then you can try out an exam for yourself - andthere are hints to help you along the way.
What I especially like about this book is that they dont just give theanswers to the practice questions, they give you an explanation of theanswers, so you can learn for next time.
As the title says, buy this book, do brilliantly a level physics!
