Customer Reviews
Best Polish dictionary on the market EVER! :)
Ignore the stupid 2 star review, which was ridiculous.
Firstly - it's a dictionary NOT a language course. Secondly - It nowhere on the cover refers to itself as specifically a beginners dictionary, it clearly states Collins "easy-learning" Polish dictionary.
Finally - It DOES give information on how to pronounce Polish on pg 17, how the reviewer missed this I really cannot fathom. There is a multitude of additional resources throughout the dictionary, ranging from vocabulary and basic grammar, right through to translation skills, and how to use the dictionary.
Right now for MY review......
Anybody studying a language other than the "big 4", French, German, Italian, Spanish, will know that the lack of resources is huge and finding even a good dictionary is difficult.
Collins easy-learning dictionaries are a huge breakthrough and standout from anything else on the market. I immediately purchased the German version upon release and have recommended these dictionaries to everyone I know.
The main point(s) for me, are the full colour and clear, smart and tidy layout, closely followed by the multitude of examples for just about every word going! This is by no means a colour version of an old format, this has been completely revamped, and the many colloquial translations gives the user real confidence that even the language content has been completely revised and developed.
Oxford dictionaries are very plain and conformist in both their presentation and layout, making them anything but inspiring to use.
For Collins to decide to publish a Polish language version of these fantastic dictionaries is a huge, but certainly pleasant surprise (there's no Russian version yet!!) so good for them for paying attention to England's small but developing interest in the Polish language.
I have absolutely no criticisms to make at all, the dictionary is perfect for complete beginners right through up to pre-degree studies, due to the detailed array of vocabulary. It's also very good value for money.
I sincerely hope Collins easy-learning Polish Grammar, Vocabulary and Verbs will eventually join the family. Not only do these valuable resources follow an identical format without neglecting quality, they would fill a virtually complete void in the Polish language resources market. After courses and dictionaries, other resources are a huge difficulty to find and many are U.S publications which just don't have the same heart and soul put into them.
All in all, if you studying French, German, Spanish, Italian or Polish, amke Collins easy-learning your first port of call!
Brilliant :)
Please publish a Russian version.................................
Polish language book
Not the easiest books to read, very much "not a beginners" no pronounciations to help you say the word, too much for me to get my head around the language.
