Pretty good
This book is great for those of you who are starting the A Level course. Its easy to understand and provides ample background information.
However it doesn't go into 'excessive' detail, which can be a problem when if you are studying at home and not at college. I would advice buying another book along with this book.
The book itself is very appealing, the books and constant 'did you know' boxes which make chemistry revelant to our daily lives. Something the exam board hasn't learnt.
Good clear text book for A-level etc.
This book, by current standards is a large book for A-level Chemistry. It is a very attractive, well illustrated book that takes nothing for granted. For those with a weak knowledge of GCSE chemistry, many of the topics are explained from scratch.
Each chapter has a collection of questions, many taken from past papers and the answers appear at the end of the book. The book is quite old now, so I don't know how it fits in with current A-level exams. It does however explain things much better than some of the really skimpy texts currently on offer.
It could also be used during the first year of University for a course requiring some Chemistry, where a revision of Chemistry is required.
Caters for all your chemistry needs
An A level text book of the highest calibre , this book covers all neccassary topics with particular reference to practical experiments and industrial practices. Although this book could be considered light on pages and carries a hefty price tag I have found no better course companion. The information is presented in a lively and interesting manner making even the most boring of topics a palatable chemistry experience.
