David Bellamy's Watercolour Landscape Course is a popular guide to landscape painting that has sold over 55,000 copies to date. Structured and practical in approach, it is unique in that it has amateur painters painting pictures right from the start. Well-known teacher-artist David Bellamy helps students to learn techniques by producing actual sketches, studies and watercolour paintings in this inspiring and practical guide. The book is divided into three main parts: / The first section covers all the practical aspects of watercolour painting; / the second section is more challenging, requiring students to take a little more initiative and develop their own style; and / the third shows how to paint the many different elements of the landscape. The course includes numerous practical exercises which highlight the key points covered in each chapter and there are twelve demonstration pictures with clear, step-by-step instructions.

Customer Reviews
A wonderful book to learn from
I love David Bellamy's style of painting and find his book has encouraged me to actually put the paint on the paper instead of looking and thinking about it. A great book.
A splendid helping hand for aspiring painters!
Copying the exercises and demonstrations in this book helped me more than a year of evening classes! The text is clear and helpful without too many technicalities. Highly recommended for those taking their first steps.
From First Steps to Improver
A sudden urge come over me to have a go at watercolour painting, so I went in search of what I thought would be a suitable book to start me on the right track until I could enrol in an evening class. David Bellamy's Watercolour Landscape Course: From First Steps to Finished Paintings looked perfect to me.
I liked the fact that you were not bogged down in painting colour wheels and just mixing colours before you got to paint anything. With just a basic set of colours and a couple of brushes, David encourages you to paint - even on the back on an envelope if you haven't got proper watercolour paper.
The demonstrations are easy to follow and the exercises gradually increase in difficulty to stretch you.
When I did finally join an evening class, the tutor was impressed with what I had achieved from reading a book. I still refer to it on a regular basis for hints and tips. It's well worth a read.
