Amazon.co.uk Review
Taking Charge of Your Fertility is a comprehensive book that explains in lucid, assured terms how to practice the fertility awareness method (FAM), a natural, scientifically proven but little-known form of birth control. Author Toni Weschler has been teaching fertility awareness for almost 20 years, and it's only just now gaining in popularity. As the book explains, by using simple fertility signs including peaks in morning body temperature and changes in cervical position and cervical mucus, it's possible to determine when ovulation is taking place. Fertility awareness is therefore useful for not only couples who are trying to conceive, but for those who are aiming to avoid pregnancy without the use of chemical contraceptives. It will be of special interest to those women who have suffered from infertility; many FAM practitioners have told the author that by filling in the detailed charts in the book, they've realised that they were chronically miscarrying, even when their doctors told them they weren't conceiving at all. As the book explains, by charting body temperature, it's simple to tell when pregnancy has occurred--and when there's danger of miscarriage. Taking Charge of Your Fertility also explains how to choose the sex of your baby by timing intercourse according to certain fertility signs. It also features thorough, easy-to-understand explanations of hormones, the menstrual cycle and menopause, along with fertility tests and treatments and their long- and short-term side effects, plus a top-notch resource section. This is recommended for any woman who wants to better understand her body. --Erica Jorgensen

Invaluable, informative and a conception success!!5
Before reading this book I considered myself well informed on fertility. I had been charting my temperature for a year without trying for a baby as I had irregular cycles. After 5 months of trying ( and lots of ovulation kits)I bought this book and realised I was not charting accurately enough and missing out the other signs of fertility. On looking back at previous charts, with the help of the book it was clear that I was ovulating most cycles but was missing my most fertile days. Needless to say 2 months later I conceived and our first baby is due at Christmas. Be prepared to learn loads from this book and to be initially slightly embarassed by some of the contents. Don't be put off by the amount of information, you can dip in and out of sections relevant to you. I passed the book onto a friend at work who is trying for a a baby and everyone had a peep. Despite some "eughs" (cervical fluid) everyone learned something. If you are trying to conceive this is an invaluable tool and may save an unnecessary referral to a fertility clinic.

Truly Exceptional and a Must have!5
I was deeply impressed and pleased with this book. I am a Ph. D in Sexuality and know a lot about fertility and conception. I absolutely agree that the information is essential especially for young women because it will put their mind at ease about several normal, physiological changes that happen within their bodies.

I also agree that the FAM method is better than the “rhythm method” and that’s why I highly recommend it to my female clients. I am happy that this great book becomes more and more popular. It is truly the “bible” when it comes to how the female body functions. I would like to strongly recommend in addition to it Alan Ritz’ “Scientifically guaranteed male multiple orgasms and ultimate sex”, which I believe is the equivalent of this book for the male body. Also if your husband has any sexual problems (premature ejaculation, low libido, (semi) impotence and even infertility he will find a lot of first class and science-based information in it. It is pleasure to highly recommend both bestsellers.

Informative, empowering & humorous5
This book is great. I'd considered myself to be reasonably well informed about my body and my fertility, but I learned a lot from reading this. The charting system is easy to practise and has been an invaluable tool for me (I'm now pregnant). It was also enlightening - if not disturbing - to realise how traditional medical jargon can often portray women negatively, and it was refreshing to be offered alternative terminologies. I'd like to thank the author for providing readers with a source of accurate, empowering, down-to-earth, non-patronising, non-judgemental information - and a good read into the bargain!
