Product Description

This is a complete power supply designer's toolkit - including tested SPICE models - ready to run. It provides solutions to the most difficult problems facing power supply designers: shrinking size and increased thermal constraints. The CD-ROM contains every model in the book - in all three SPICE flavors - as well as demo versions of all 3 flavors so readers can start from scratch, install the software and simulate the book examples without any SPICE experience.

Editorial Reviews

Review
"I can only give a glowing review for Basso's proposed book. Christophe Basso is a frequent contributor to EDN's Design ideas section, and his submissions are uniformly excellent and innovative. His topic is an extremely valid one, and should be of interest to many readers. A wealth of literature exists on SPICE models for power supplies, but it's generally scattered in companies' application literature and conference papers. Basso's effort is the first I know of to compile the SPICE information in one place." Daniel Mitchell, Technical Editor, EDN Magazine

A reference text for SMPS designers who simulate using SPICE5
This book provides a good introduction into various averaged mode simulation of various SMPS topologies. It then shows how these models are derived mathematically from the full transient model. All 3 basic models (Buck, Boost & Buck-Boost) utilising both current mode and voltage mode control is provided.

Great for any novice engineers who wish to speed up their simulation times from hours and minutes to seconds. Reduces the learning curve of SMPS SPICE simulation greatly without getting lost in dozens of technical papers.

Demo versions of the various SPICE engines are provided and models are all included in the CD-ROM. Extremely useful when all the material is available for installation and simulation. You can also quickly simulate your own power supply by modifying the models already present on the disk.

Highly recommended!!
