Product Description
Unlike most other references on the market, this next-generation resource goes well beyond Bluetooth specifications and thoroughly examines different implementation approaches - as taught by a "master instructor." This book discusses Bluetooth in detail, covering both operational characteristics as well as its use as a wireless communications system. It addresses the coexistence of Bluetooth with other wireless networks and provides information on the significant security problems that exist when communicating without wires. It is based on 2 very popular and highly effective courses the author has been teaching for more than a year.

Customer Reviews
Excellent comprehensive yet detailed coverage of Bluetooth
I bought this book to get a better understanding of Bluetooth on a number of levels - the radio transmission technology and attenuation of signals within buildings, the inquiry and paging mechanisms, piconets (slaves and masters), L2CAP and logical link layer, security (keys, encryption, bonding), profiles (and how they relate to each other) and co-existence with other wireless networks or devices liable to cause interference. I wasn't disappointed! I can definitely recommend this book for anybody who wants a good, broad-but-detailed, technical book about Bluetooth. It includes plenty of good quality diagrams for things such as frame formats, OSI-type layers, cryptographic inputs/outputs, transmission sequences etc. To be fair most people are unlikely to need all chapters (for example, I wasn't interested in the chapter on module fabrication etc, and skipped most of the maths on propagation - although will use some of the basic figures) but if anybody wants a serious professional reference on their corporate bookshelf then they can't go far wrong with this one!
