Food fads and fashions have no place in this solid, serious guide to healthy eating, produced in associatin with the Royal College of General Practitioners. As well as a thorough analysis of essential nutrients - including a helpful key to food labelling - and the principles of a balanced diet there are chapters on diet in pregnancy, sensible weight management, special regimes such as gluten-free, diabetic, nut-free and low-cholesterol and a section on how the right choice of food can alleviate ailments from skin complaints to heart disorders. Three hundred recipes back up the theories in this dependable - if not exactly mouthwatering - book. (Kirkus UK)
Customer Reviews
The best cook book I have ever purchased.
Not sure what to feed your family? Not sure what you should be feeding them? With this book in the kitchen worries about menu planning, catering for special dietary requirements and 'oh what will we have tonight' will be a thing of the past. Within 7 days of receiving the book my husband (who arrives back from work at about 8pm, having left at 7am) said, 'You are cooking very innovative meals this week.' (They were also low fat, low calorie as well, with no loss of taste.) I recommend it.
