Customer Reviews
Are you a human being or a human doing?
Bloom, by Stefan Ball, is a specialist interest book that will strongly appeal to anyone who has used Bach Flower Remedies (BFRs). However, unlike another reviewer of this book, Lee Ann, I think this book could also appeal if you have never used the remedies but are interested in personal development and spiritual growth. If, as Stefan says, `you spend more time as a human doing and less time as a human being', then this book is for you!
This is not another self-help workbook; it is an engaging, interesting and challenging read. Even if you were only to read a few pages, you would recognise yourself, or someone you know, and become intrigued as to how a flower essence could help. This is a book for today, yet its wisdom makes it timeless.
Stefan provides a brief history of the discovery of the remedies, explains how each of the 38 BFRs can be used for self-development and spiritual growth, and describes how to self-administer the treatment.
The book is structured so that the chapters about theories of self-development alternate with chapters that explain the possible uses of the remedies. If you are familiar with the BFRs you can read just the chapters that explain the principles of self-development; if you already know about self-development you can just read the chapters about the remedies. My tip: for maximum benefit, read the book straight through.
I would urge that this book be recommended as a standard text for Bach Flower Remedy Practitioners: it is a valuable resource both personally and with clients. Its balanced, common sense approach to dealing with fear, change and relationships gently leads readers to identify obstacles and uncover their own solutions. Finally, the testimonials of how remedies have benefited individuals provide insight into remedy use that is rarely available outside a training course.
Further education in Bach Remedies
Stefan Ball is one of the Trustees at the Bach Centre at Mount Vernon, home of Dr Bach and where the Nelson Bach remedies are still created according to his exact standards. Stefan writes the course material for practitioners and marks the exam results. He has a good grounding in teaching and is an expert and talented teacher.
This book is not for the beginner. If you are interested in Dr Bach and his system of remedies used to treat our emotions rather than the symptoms of disease then you should firstly read Judy Howard's Step by Step guide, Stefan's Workbook and his Teach Yourself.
But this is fantastic book for those who want to learn more and put their knowledge to deeper use and I recommend you buy it once you have grapsed the general philosophy nad remdy knowledge.
As in his previous books this is very easy to understand, full of information and fun to read.
Highly recommended for those with some knowledge and experience.
