Steven Patrick Morrissey is one of the most original and controversial voices in the history of popular music. With The Smiths, he led the most influential British guitar group of the 1980s, his enigmatic wit and style defining a generation. As a solo artist, he has continued to broach subjects no other singer would dare. Worshipped by some, vilified by others, Morrissey is a unique rock and roll creation. The 300,000 words of "Mozipedia" make this the most intimate and in-depth biographical portrait of the man and his music yet. Bringing together every song, album, collaborator, key location, every hero, book, film and record to have influenced his art, it is the summation of years of meticulous research. Morrissey authority Simon Goddard has interviewed almost everybody of any importance, making "Mozipedia" the last word on Morrissey and The Smiths.

Review
"It's the undertaking of a maniac and Goddard succeeds like a genius... the fullest portrait of Morrissey yet put to paper. Goddard has become what Hunter Davies is to The Beatles or Jon Savage is to punk; the number one authority on the subject. ****" -- Q, September 2009
This book is the perfect festive gift for any Morrissey fan, who would be unsurprised to learn that Mozza himself finds Christmas "fairly annoying".
--The Daily Telegraph, 28 November, 2009

"Goddard proves worthy of his subject... This is a superb achievement. ****" -- Mojo, September 2009

"I cannot recommend it highly enough. Everything you'd ever want to know about the man, the myth, the quiff. I cannot put it down - a terrific read." -- Gary Crowley, BBC London
Customer Reviews
A staggering achievement
This book has been a long ime in gestation. Goddard has a great pedigree on this subject (Songs That Saved Your Life), and the omens were good for this exhaustive tome - you will not be disappointed. Truly, truly. Astounding. He draws all possible recordings, unreleased material, influences, and, for the first time, an in-depth look at all Morrissey's solo output. I kept looking to see "I wonder if he's got that bit in?", looking for obscure references - and every time, the answer was yes. There's stuff in here for the beginner, the knowledgeable fan, the absolute know-it-all. And still more. This book will, for years to come, be the most authoritative and insightful book on the subject of Morrissey & The Smiths. Oh, and it's a quality, well-put-together, stylish book.
A stunning piece of work.
Exhaustive in detail and fascinating in content
I'm only a third of the way through this mighty tomb of a book but still I feel confident enough to proclaim it the most valuable and informative document on Morrissey and The Smiths to date.
The wealth of detail is seriously heart stopping. Goddard is to be commended for the work and research he has so clearly invested in his subjects.
Without doubt this is a work for the fan. I suspect that any casual reader stumbling upon this book would be tortured and rendered numb by the depth of interest in Morrissey's passions and psyche contained within.
Were it solely based on Goddard's song by song analysis this book would be a masterpiece. With equal attention given to the likes of smiths clothing, obscure heroes and Morrissey's interest in stationary however, the book becomes an essential masterpiece.
I cannot see this work ever being bettered. Truly essential.
World of Morrissey
At last Morrissey/ Smiths gets the kind of treatment that the likes of weighty pop figures like Dylan, Beatles, et al have long received. An interesting compendium of Moz trivia and musical facts. A bit like QI for Smiths fans. Morrissey would protest that he hates this kind of thing but its exactly the kind of book he would want to read about his musical/pop cultural heroes... Nicely designed too.
