A dog gets the better of the Read family
My 3 year old daughter and I have read just about all the Arthur books, and this is our favourite. Pal the puppy is an undisciplined menace, wrecking the curtains, pooing in the kitchen, eating books and dolls etc etc - all the things puppy owners will recognise! Arthur is overwhelmed with responsibility at first, but eventually tames the beast with love and persistence (and no thanks to the ever evil DW, his little sister). But what no one knows is that Pal has really got the better of the family. Sleep in the garage? No, Pal hides the key. Go for a walk on the lead? No, Pal hides the lead. This is a funny, educating and entertaining book. The text is good for early readers, and interesting when read aloud; and the illustrations are fun. We just love Arthur and DW!
