Dissapointing ending
I found the book enthraling and enjoyed the divercity of the charicters... I did however suffer with the ending as I found it dropped off suddenly. The last chapter could have been left as either an open ending or written into a whole new book... Instead it was short and left me with no kind feelings or fire for the book, that whilst I had been reading I had loved.
The story was filled with Anne's usual unrealistic senarios but it appears she got bored and gave up when writing it.
Makes You want to go to New Orleans
This book, together with the two preceding novels, The Witching Hour, and Lasher are without doubt the work of a genious. Never before have I been totally enslaved to reading a story, which is so completly mesmerick. Rice writes in a way which conjures up such suductive imagery that you can feel and smell the aura of those in the novel. Makes you want to follow the path of the Mayfairs, and see whether they really did exist in any way in reality, makes you want to go to New Orleans, and visit the Garden District. I am desperate for the trilogy to continue.
For me - The Mayfair witches are by far Rice's most fantastic literally reads above all her other incredibly skilled works.
Keep going Anne - Don't make the Mayfairs extinct quite yet!
