Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
As Ferrett Swartt Sixclaw and his arch enemy Sunflash the Mace swear a pledge of death upon each other, a young creature is cruelly banished from the safety of Redwall. As he grows, he seeks revenge on the people of Redwall and finds himself embroiled in a bitter battle that has far reaching consequences.

An epic Tale of Redwall from the pen of master storyteller Brian Jacques, Outcast of Redwall is a kaleidoscope of colour, range and emotions that culminates in a bitter battle between good and evil. None of the passion of the previous Redwall titles is lost as some of the most cherished landscapes and best loved characters from previous books are revisited, bringing with them a wisdom and clarity that has developed and endured.

On a basic level, this is a cracking fantasy adventure story. Look deeper and you will find that this, along with the other titles in the series, has a divine, enduring quality that ranks it among he best in children's literature. --Susan Harrison

Customer Reviews

Brian Jacques at his best!5
This is an epic tale of adventure, fate and friendship. The badger Sunflash the Mace and the ferret Swartt Sixclaw are sworn to destroy each other some day. Along with his faithful friend,Skalrath, Sunflash sets out to find Salamandastron, a huge mountain that had been ruled by badger lords since time began, to rule it as the lord of the mountain. However, he must first kill his fated enemy Swartt Sixclaw...

Fantastic (there is no other word)5
Again exceptional work from Mr Jacques. I find that this book really displays a grasp of the fact that life isn't as black and white as we like to think there are many grey areas...Veil is a grey area and is made so by the love and courage of a determined young mouse who just won't give up on the babe she raised, no matter what he does. The parallel story of Swartt and Sunflash is perhaps favoured by me and my favourite character has to be Skarlath...the touching friendship that lasts between Sunflash and his hawk made the book for me. I would recommend this whether you have read anything by Jacques before or not.

martin the warrior what a cool guy5
martin the warrior
This is a story of a young mouse warrior called Martin, funnily enough, who swears a warrior's oath to kill Badrang the stoat.Iwould say Badrang is cunningly wicked.Martin and the hoard of young otters and shrews and the fredom fighters defeat Marshank and win the war. I really liked this book due to the masterfull charactersation and hillareous dialog. And i would advise this book to anybody with a mind like mine!
