Editorial Reviews

Synopsis
With "The Midi Files", users can learn how to program drum patterns, guitars, bass, strings and brass sounds; use sequencer tricks; and try out unusual and experimental programming ideas. "Dance Music Programming Secrets" separates chapters for bass line and rhythm programming styles, and shows how to use Cubase's Logical Editor and IPS. It covers such areas as chords, echoes, arpeggios and quantization; the mixing desk, EQ and effects; the secrets of getting creations distributed and sold; and the Internet's Midi and dance resources.

Customer Reviews

Good basic manual, not too many secrets though3
I had been using Cubase for a number of years prior to reading this book, but still managed to pick up a few pointers. I would have to say that the content is really aimed at beginnners, but is presented in an easily understood style with plenty of examples. I've only read 2 books on this subject...this one and the "fast guide to cubase VST" by Simon Millward, the latter being the far superior from a learning the software point of view, and if you take this aspect out of the "programming secrets" book, there really isn't that much left. The CD could be useful to a beginner.

A good book for anyone involved with sequencing at any level4
This book is a must to gain an insight into programming techniques. It outlines MIDI itself and what to consider when using midi to recreate a live performance.
