Product Description

For a first-year graduate-level course on nonlinear systems. It may also be used for self-study or reference by engineers and applied mathematicians.

The text is written to build the level of mathematical sophistication from chapter to chapter. It has been reorganized into four parts: Basic analysis, Analysis of feedback systems, Advanced analysis, and Nonlinear feedback control.

From the Back Cover
This best-selling book adopts an intuitive, yet rigorous approach. It provides extensive coverage of nonlinear systems and control theory. User-friendly language, an abundance of exceptionally detailed, worked examples, and progressively more sophisticated mathematics throughout, make the piece appropriate and accessible to a range of reader interests and levels.
FEATURES-

Builds in mathematical sophistication from chapter to chapter.
Adopts a very precise theorem-proof format for presenting the fundamental notions of stability and asymptotic analysis for nonlinear systems — but uses user-friendly language, enlivened with many examples and remarks.

Customer Reviews

If you do research on nonlinear systems, you must read it5
This book is the best book I have seen among all the books about nonlinear systems. The book can be devided into 3 parts: stability theory, perturbation theory and controller design. The stability part introduces the most recently proposed approaches, like input-to-state stability, input-to-state stability. The third part also covers some very popular nonlinear designs approaches, like feedback linearization, gain scheduling and Lyapunov based design.

The book is organized very well. You will not feel too difficult when you read this book.

Most books only focus on the nonlinear system analysis, like bifurcation, chao, etc. But as a general theoretical book, those concepts are not emphasized. Instead, it focus on the general analysis and design for nonlinear systems.
