A collection of the absurd, ridiculous, sublime and characteristically anarchic verse from the brilliant Spike Milligan. With his very own illustrations, this collection, which includes the famous On the Ning Nang Nong will make you laugh from the bottom of your belly - just like Spike did.

About the Author
The legendary and iconic figure, Spike Milligan was born at Ahmednagar in India in 1918. He received his first education in a tent in the Hyderabad Sindh desert and graduated from there, through a series of Roman Catholic schools in India and England, to the Lewisham Polytechnic. He then plunged into the world of Show Business, seduced by his first stage appearance, at the age of eight, in the nativity play of his Poona convent school. He began his career as a band musician, but became famous as a humorous scriptwriter and actor in both films and broadcasting. He was the creator, principal writer and performer of the infamous Goon Show. Spike received an honorary CBE in 1992 and Knighthood in 2000. He died in 2002.
Customer Reviews
Silly, silly, silly
This book is very, very, very silly! My favourite poems are The Land Of The Bumbley Boo and On The Ning Nong Nong. The words make your tongue feel funny and your head act silly. If you read it you'll feel silly! Martha Ives (aged 7)

WARNING: This book may seriously affect you for the rest of your life.
Today I saw a little worm,
Wiggling on his belly,
Perhaps he'd like to come inside,
And see whats on the telly.
This book is the reason I smiled in my school photo, aged 6.
It belonged to my Mum when she was younger and now it's falling apart.
It's still fantastic to return to as an adult. Spike Milligan knocks spots of Dr Seuss and Edward Lear,
to call this a book of "nonsense poems" would be an insult, they make perfect sense and are surreally beautiful, as are Milligan's illustrations/diagrams.
These poems put some very, very funny pictures in my head when I was small and I haven't recovered.

SPIKE IS KING
Spike is King!
A collection of bizaar, thoughtful and quirky snippets from Milligan's fantastically creative mind. I loved these as a child and have re-discovered them as an adult. A fine purchase for children aged 0 - 100.
